Hitting the doorstep with #Labour4PR
This month we held our first #Labour4PR Canvassing session, we attended the North and London regional conferences, and our friends at Make Votes Matter published a report demolishing the myth that Proportional Representation leads to political instability. Keep reading for details…
#Labour4PR Canvassing in Milton Keynes North
On Saturday 16 March, we held our first #Labour4PR Canvassing event, supporting the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Milton Keynes North, Chris Curtis. Pro-PR members from nearby constituencies came to lend Chris a hand, as one of the most vocal electoral reform advocates amongst Labour’s PPCs.

We’ll be holding more canvassing sessions as we move towards the general election, so sign-up for updates - and campaign for your nearest pro-PR PPC.
Strong and stable?
Also this month, Make Votes Matter published a report debunking the myth that First Past the Post leads to stability: Strong and Stable.
It picked up exclusive coverage in the Guardian, and shows that there's no evidence that PR leads to political instability. In fact, on 8 out of 10 measures of stability, democracies with PR are more stable than those with First Past the Post.

After a decade of Tory chaos, it’s obvious to many of us that our voting system a cause of - rather than solution to - the instability that riddles British politics. MVM’s report provides hard evidence to back this up. Take a look for full details.
Regional conferences
Meanwhile, together with Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform, we’ve been getting out to conference for the North and London regions; running stalls and talking to members.

Lots of interest for @Labour4PR at the #LabourNorth Conference- First Past the Post effectively disenfranchises voters in safe seats even if they have a Labour MP pic.twitter.com/30VIAdqIug

There’s no let up in enthusiasm and support for PR across the Labour movement. Members, affiliates, and elected officials understand that electoral reform is key to delivering the decade of renewal the UK sorely needs. It will fall to Labour in government to deliver it.
